Model Study
Laurits Tuxen (1853–1927) was a prominent Danish painter known for his masterful depictions of royal and aristocratic life, as well as his contributions to the Skagen Painters, an influential group of Scandinavian artists. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later at Léon Bonnat’s studio in Paris, Tuxen specialized in grand, monumental portraits and historical scenes, often commissioned by European monarchs, including Queen Victoria and the Russian imperial family. His works are characterized by dynamic compositions, meticulous detail, and a sensitivity to light and atmosphere. Beyond royal portraiture, he captured intimate landscapes and family scenes, reflecting the naturalistic and Impressionist influences of his time.
